David Cassidy Memorial

First an introduction: I took over Jade’s Downunder David Cassidy Fansite in November 2004 and redesigned the site with the aim of creating a complete record of David’s amazing talent; detailing all aspects of his life and as a record of the impact David had on fans from around the world. Cat allowed me to incorporate much of her Da-idy website so that a complete record of David’s activities could be kept together. In 2011 David asked me to incorporate my, now very large, Fansite into his official website.  There are now over 5870 pages and over 15000 photos, thanks to contributions from fans from around the world.

I suggest that WE make the site a lasting memorial to David.

I invite all fans who were would like to contribute to David’s memorial (website) to email jane@davidcassidy.com

I will try to add things to the site as often as I can. You can see the latest additions at http://www.davidcassidy.com/fansite/FansPages/New_Pages_and_Updates.html

  1. David gave so much of his life to us fans,in his honour this website should always be here. Apart from the bench at Saratoga nobody seems to care about his memory which is very sad. I personally feel David Cassidy Official Website, should always be here, where fans can interact with each other ,with everything that,s going on the pain just keeps getting worse. I feel right now it’s almost as if he didn’t exist,He deserves much more than he is getting. So to show the world how much us fans loved him, this site must continue.

        • Sure. Thanks for being curious. Waiting to hear back from a local pastor with my idea, but where I am going is this — my spirit is looking for a blessing — words said by a religious representative for the soul of DC. Planning to record it — no one there — just the pastor, but it would be something for fans to watch spiritually. Figuring a picture of DC with a few candles around the picture, pastor saying some words. Keep your fingers crossed. I think it could be nice.

          • Thank you Mary, that’s such a beautiful idea, a blessing and spiritual remembrance for David, hopefully you and your local pastor can do this, I’ll be looking forward to seeing it.

          • Thank you from me too Mary! So special of you to do the most important thing for David – pray for his soul! It may comfort you to know that I’m Catholic and after he died I gained a plenary indulgence for him. I believe in this, and I believe he is in heaven now. All of our prayers together are a beautiful bouquet to him!

        • Video of the prayers from two local lay pastors posted today on the new section on the site.

    • I agree |Yvonne, nothing shown on TV in Scotland about David after he passed. Such an iconic man. Shame on the BBC. He deserves so much more.

  2. i shall never forget David, his music is all over my home, the grief has passed, and i remember David with fondness, and i think happy thoughts, he gave so much entertainment in my life, and i wrote this message when he was alive, i thank him from the bottom of my heart, in the uk when i was holidaying i saw benches given in remembrance to people who loved that certain place, and David will be smiling from heaven, for his bench to be in saratoga springs racecourse, and i am sure there will be a tribute on tv in the uk in the next few months remembering David, but the media do allow time and space for close ones to heal from the pain of losing David, i hope this website continues for a long time, Jane you have and are doing a marvelous job, especially as you knew David and the grief must have been immense when he first passed,a big thank you to you, i can understand David being ill and suffering from dementia, being nearly 60 myself just got over flu it knocks you about makes you feel very tired and affects the mind, so if David was not well can understand how ill he was, as we age illness affects us worse than when you are young. never forgotten.

  3. Thank you, Jane. This site is a beautiful place to come and share our David’s memories with others. Keep Up the good work. Big hugs 😘

  4. The David Cassidy website to me, represents who David was, The Best in so much. David wanted to be remembered for spreading love, thers alot of love here for you David that will be forever. The fans are each different, but the same, when David’s the topic, the fans support eachother here and share there David Cassidy stories. Jane and the webteam, gave us so much here, we can go down memory lane with all that David Cassidy has done, and it’s here, organized to perfection. I’m enjoying watching shows, interviews, and so much that I didn’t even know David did. Jane thank you, for your hard work and dedication to David , David did so much, and it is all here. Jane you made David Cassidy memory a special tribute here on this site. We the fans care, and you have been good to us fans

  5. Thank you Jane, for all your hard work with this wonderful website.

I will love and miss David always and forever and I know this is the same for all the fans that visit this site and share their memories.

  6. This site is a great legacy, Jane. I appreciate the work you’ve put in over the years to maintaining and integrating the content. I imagine all of the visitors feel the same. Since David passed away, I’ve had 2 sources of information that really helped me understand his life and music, one was his autobiography, and the other was what is held here. It has also been a place where I’ve seen people supporting and caring for each other – so much kindness. I couldn’t believe how saddened I was by David’s passing, and it was a help to see so many different people from so many different places feeling the same way. This is a really positive global space and I believe it can be kept that way, in fact a bit of a beacon in the on-line world – in this way David can be honoured.

  7. Today I had a break though, since we lost David I have not been able to listen to any of his songs all the way threw, yes I’ve listened to bits until it got to painful and yes I have watched it part some of the amazing videos put on here ( thank you) but today like all the other days I put on his music but before I had a chance to stop the pain, there was a knock on the door,it was my young neighbor I forgotten I’d takern in a parcel for her, well she stood there for a while then asked who is that singing he has a great voice I told her in fact I wrote it down for her telling het to look him up,a few hours later I was putting out the rubbish when I heard him come from her house 😊 not only did I realize that I had lisened to an entre Album but had help a new generation discover him which made me think Elivis has been gone years yet there are new fans all the time some as young as 10 ,so if we just keep playing the music watching the show’s he will go on for generation’s 😊

  8. I would like to thank you and tell you of my heartfelt appreciation to all concerned for keeping up David Cassidy´s Official site and for all the contributions made and published here. If it were not for this I could not have learned happily of his life achievements and great artistic work. Everyone has highs and lows in life, David will always be remembered through the feeling of love transmitted through his voice and great music. He unwillingly moved us deeply at an early age, as I believe no other artist has since been able to do, and I doubt will in future eras.
Thank you again, have a wonderful year and we shall keep contact here more times I´m sure.
Ana, a Canadian in the Azores-Portugal

  9. Ana I agree with your whole post, we know only one David Cassidy. Jane has it all here for us, she has done a tremendous job , just when you think you knew alot about David, there is so much more. David gave and gave, I will always miss him, I’m glad we got the memories, Jane you made that happen, for us fans. And thank you Jane for explaining how you, and Year when you took over. Your hard work here is so appreciated, and detailed to perfection.

  13. Progress report on recording some prayers for DC from local church.

Meeting this week with lay pastors to discuss the idea.

Will advise fellow fans when something is ready to be posted.

    • Video loaded this afternoon. Hope you find it appropriate. Link in new section on the website.

      • Thank you, Mary. You arranged something special, personal and caring. I found your video moving and it was helpful. A really thoughtful thing to do. R.I.P. David and thank you again, Mary… Sian Steed, England

        • I am extremely pleased that fellow fans are getting the feeling I was trying to share, as if we were all there — somewhere — together. But, no way for fans across the world to assemble in body, but thanks to the power of electronics — the POSITIVE, not the negative, we’re doing it spiritually. Hugs from PA to England.

          • Thank you Mary for the prayers for David, very moving and comforting, so thoughtful of you to do that, and please thank the lay pastors for us.

  20. I really think that DC always thought that we loved him for his role as Keith ? Not me I didn’t even watch the P.Family. it was stupid. I truly loved and admired him for his DC great looks and his great songs. We aren’t or weren’t silly… as soon as he started doing his concerts and moving that body of his..that’s what his fans loved about him…not Keith..

  21. I Think this is a wonderful idea. IT would always be a web-site we could go to….

David Cassidy was one in a million!!!

  22. First, I want to thank you, Jane, and anyone else who maintains this website for David. Next, I want to encourage all fans to play David’s music in public whenever possible. So many people have discovered David and became fans when they heard great music that they didn’t know was David. One of my favorite things to do is to play David’s later music, especially his own original songs, in my car. People always invariably ask, “Who is this?” I then ask if they like it. The answer is always yes. I then tell them that it is David Cassidy. They are always pleasantly surprised. I have attended concerts with friends who heard David sing songs not usually associated with him and had those same friends complain that they never knew how incredibly talented he was. I am one of those people that can’t live without my Daily Dose of David. His music has been my addiction for over 40 years. Once again, thanks to Jane and the Web Team.

    • Hi Patricia
I.m going to get myself some later DC music to play in the car. Is there anything you’d particularly recommend? I only ever had his 70’s earlier stuff.

  23. Many thanks, Jane. I’m still having a difficult time with David Cassidy’s passing. I may be 58, but I felt the loss like my 11-year old self who immediately fell in love with him on on September 25, 1970 (2 days after my birthday). I wish I could have had the opportunity to assure him that as young as I was, I never once confused him with Keith Partridge. Having read several of his biographies, I know that was something that bugged him. I hope towards the end of his career, when he had enough distance to embrace his Partridge Family experience, he realized that we’ve all admired HIM- DAVID – and his (in my opinion) underrated talent, for decades. He truly was a gift to the world. Bless you for keeping this site going. It lightens my very heavy heart.

    • Amen Pam!
      I truly echo your sentiments.

Yeah, we KNEW it was a tv show and he was acting a part. And we knew David Cassidy sang the songs both as the “actor”, and as HIMSELF at concerts and on recordings.
I’m sure very few girls (and guys?) confused the two.

As long as after the 70s era David recognized that fans love him, for being himself – “warts and all”, so to speak!

We will all hold him dear in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May he rest in eternal peace.

And God bless all his family, friends, fans and supporters.

  24. I am still so very upset about dear David
    :0(
    Thank you for this website
God Bless you David and your family
I am still shedding tears … still can’t believe it …

    • me too. I cry everyday over david’s passing and listen to his music in the car. s o very sad to me. very sad.

  25. there needs to be a fan memorial event. he is not forgotten in any way but the media didn’t cover him with justice.

    • I’ve felt for ages that there was a lot of ambivalence toward David Cassidy from men (which includes men in the media). They may have envied the attention and love of all those girl fans… but they would have preferred that it be directed at someone more “macho”… I wonder if other fans agree with this perspective? Sian

      • Sometimes, I find that guys who post something positive about David Cassidy, they have to say “I’m not gay, but I liked David Cassidy.” They always have to say that before they say something positive about him which I find interesting. When a pretty boy gets attention from girls, it makes guys uncomfortable. I think there’s a bit of homophobia going on there. Like if they admire him, other guys may get the wrong idea and think they must be attracted to them. Guys get hostile and use terms like “gay boy” which annoys me. It’s almost as if they have to prove their not a homo so they hate on the performer. Are they that insecure about their own manhood? A fine example is Leonardo DiCaprio. When Titanic came out, guys were calling him Leonardo Di-CRAP-io. Meanwhile he was one of the most talented actors around. Martin Scorsese sort of saved Leonardo’s career in a way. Because it’s very macho to like Martin Scorsese movies, so now that Leonardo DiCaprio is associated with him, he became accepted by men. So I think it’s jealousy, but I also think there’s a bit of homophobia too. Seeing a pretty guy makes them uncomfortable. Even if the guy is straight and has a lot of women (like David Cassidy did), it still makes other guys freak out.

  26. David Cassidy was so bkessed. We all have issues and make bad decisions and mistakes. There is always forgiveness. Many of us were so disappointed there was no service or formal recognition of his passing. Everyone dislikes funerals. Grief is hard, it never ends. You are there to remember and support each other. He has a soul. Everyone has worth.

  27. Jane you do an amazing job. I really really hope that you are able to keep this site going with our support. When news of David’s death was released and I found that the website was down it added to my devastation as I thought that was the end and the plug had been pulled. It is a lifeline for all us fans, especially now. Thank you so much for your hartd work and dedication.

  28. Jane,
Please keep up the good work on the website and for all those who contribute – thank you so much. David deserves a living memorial whether it be on facebook with his groups – particiularly the cmonghethappy.com facebook group, or websites like this. We meed to stand together for David and keep his memory alive.

  29. Ann Marie, that’s an interesting observation. At this point and looking back, I feel that David had to prove himself over and over again, because of that early manic success and his good looks.

It just leaves me in awe of his tenacity and strength……that he was able to keep going – and we are so lucky that he did…

    • Hi Ann Marie and Lyn.

      I echo your sentiments.

I was just blown-away at looking at David’s profile on IMDB and just how much he had done in his career. True talent cannot be hidden, and that’s for sure! And in your words Lyn, “tenacity and strength”, added to talent and sheer hard-work

      http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0144180/

God bless him and his loved ones.

  30. Thank you, Jane, for enabling all these loving communications to flow. I can’t help thinking that you deserve a celebration event of your own. Sian

  31. So proud of this so much gratitude to all who contributed to this and made this dream possible for us the fans to give to David we love you all♡♡♡♡♡ melody martin

  32. I will forever miss David for he gave me so much. He was the boyfriend that we loved from afar and he could do no wrong. He melted me with those sexy eyes and his voice blew me away. I cried when I learned of his death because I felt like I piece of my heart had been taken away and it will never be the same again. I pray you are at peace. I will forever love you.

  33. Thank you to everyone who Does anything at all to keep David Cassidy memory alive
His beautiful face and incredible voice and many, many talents
Are never far from my thoughts. I live in England but one day I will find my way to that bench in Saratoga and listen to his music yet again whilst I am there. I’m
Actually still in shock at the sadness and loneliness he experienced, his mental health
And physical health decline. His family may of taken his ashes and that’s their business but I think there should be something significant somewhere to mark his achievements
I can’t believe there is no
Marker anywhere for someone who was once the most famous person in the world.

  34. David left us too soon but we will always have his music to remember him.
    Happy birthday in heaven!

  35. Hi. I agree with Susie. The Hollywood stat is great. But there needs to be more done to keep David’s legacy alive. I think PBS should air his concerts when they do their pledge drives instead of showing the same, d stuff all the time. I think a well done documentary should be made. Sort of like the Beatles Anthology, something to show EVERYTHING about him. He is so beautiful and talented, people have to stop thinking he’s just tenant bopper idol. David was multi talented. David IS And WILL ALWAYS be the best. I am so in love with him. 💙💚💙💚

  36. Just want to apologize for all my tying errors! I have a hard time typing on my phone and really hate the auto correct! I will be more careful. I meant to say David is so much more than the teeny bopper image that a lot of people place in him. The news casters, etc. STOP, LOOK around, HE is SO much more!!!!💙💚💙💚
