Message from David – June 17, 2017 Sat, 17 Jun 2017 11:06:45 +0000 Last weekend, Craig and I recorded some tracks at my place. Craig brought a Neumann U67 mike from Chicago, the same type of mike that I sang through in my very first recordings in 1970.  I had my favorite mike and my favorite guitar, my Black Knife Strat with a graphite neck, as well as the songs my father taught me. How could I ask for more?

I’m going to fly to Craig’s studio in a few weeks to finish the recording.

Happy Trails,

Photo from Craig’s studio of the 4 of us; Frank, myself, Teri, and Craig.

I’m having a lot of fun and being as creative as I’ve been since the 70s but as I’m so much older it’s very different now for me. Teri on drums, Craig on keyboard and Frank. Frank is an exceptional bass and a guitar player in this style of nearly jazz! He’s just a remarkable player. I’m limited in what I do well. I’ll play on at least one or two tracks but he’s far better in most cases than I, especially since my arthritis has really hampered my fingers. Many of you who also have arthritis will understand how frustrating it is.

Thus far, I’m very proud of the tracks, as is the 4 of us. We jell very well and they’re as good as it gets!! I’m going to record a bunch of vocals with Craig next week.

Happy Trails,

Message from David – May 5, 2017 Sat, 06 May 2017 05:54:14 +0000 I’m about to go to Chicago in the next 2 weeks to record in Craig’s state of the art studio to begin doing my tribute to my mentor and father. People may respond that it’s just worship of my male role model, especially as he basically abandoned me and my mother. I truly believe he was the most talented man I’ve ever known. Soooooooo, I’m going to go in and pay tribute to him with “Songs my father taught me”.

Teri and Frank are flying in. As you all know, we record Live! Live! Live! It’s the only authentic way! It’s the way I learned and was taught from 19 years of age!! I truly believe this will be my last recording, and it’s been something I’ve been thinking about for many years.

Happy Trails,

Jack and David

HAPPY TRAILS… Tue, 18 Apr 2017 10:50:35 +0000
A number of fans have been asking why David often uses ‘Happy Trails’ to end his messages. Fan’s first noticed David using this in the liner notes of ‘Dreams Are Nuthin’ More Than Wishes’ LP in 1973.
David said ‘It’s the song that Roy Rogers and his wife sang at the beginning and the end of their TV show when I was a very young boy!! I loved that song they sang on horseback.’

I am grateful for having had another birthday but even more grateful for your messages of love and support. Thank you for those messages on my website and Facebook page. I am blessed to have such loyal, loving and caring fans.

I have some projects I am organising and I’ll let you know all about them when I can. I want to give back to society for all I have received for 49 years. My intention is to educate others about Dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Happy Trails,

Concert Review & Photos Sat, 01 Apr 2017 10:44:06 +0000 March 4, 2017 – BB King’s, NY

….‘I Think I Love You’ had the audience up on their feet singing along to one of the biggest selling singles of the 1970s. Perhaps David’s feelings about his career and fans can be summed up by his favourite verse of the song “I don’t know what I’m up against, I don’t know what it’s all about, I got so much to think about, I think I love you…”

Through the ups and downs over the last 40+ years David has persevered mainly due to his immense talent and the love for and from his fans. As he told us a couple of times during the concert, his career started in New York and the tours should end a few steps from his first acting gig near Times Square. BB King’s on West 42nd Street was therefore the correct location for this performance.

Message from David – March 27, 2017 Tue, 28 Mar 2017 11:51:09 +0000 To my fans all over the world,

I want to let you know that I’m doing fine and that today was a good day. I’ve had some very busy days since my interview on the Dr Phil show. I’m really doing very well. I have the occasional bad day as I’m sure we all do. My bad days are not often but I suspect they’re a bit different than most.

I’ve asked 3 of my closest friends (we’ve been friends for decades) to help me and let me know if they see any change in me on any given day. I’m very comfortable with my diagnosis and my life and lifestyle now. I plan on being here on this planet for a very long time!!

Happy Trails,

Message from David – March 8, 2017 Thu, 09 Mar 2017 11:10:57 +0000 To the many thousands of people who have supported me over the last 5 decades I send my love. I thank you all sincerely for the support and care you have shown me recently and in the past.

I am enjoying some time at home, appreciating the warmth and contemplating what I will be doing next. I wanted to let you all know that I am not retired, I do want to play again. I just won’t tour. I also want to go back into the studio to record “Songs My Father Taught Me”. I will keep in contact with you and let you know what I am doing.

Thank you for the many letters and messages of concern and care. I have my good days and very occasionally a bad day.  I am doing everything my doctors advise in terms of diet and pills.

Happy Trails,
