Presents - "Experience the Glory ¬ Inspire Greatness" Inaugural Gala

Special Olympics Nevada cordially invites members of the community to attend the inaugural "Experience the Glory ¬ Inspire Greatness" Gala to be held April 1, 2001 at the MGM Grand Conference Center. Hosted by Mrs. Rose McKinney ¬ James, the event will honor David Cassidy and his wife, Sue Shifrin-Cassidy, for their commitment to and support of Special Olympics Nevada.

The evening's festivities will begin at 6:00 pm with a hosted cocktail hour and entertainment provided by the singing trio, Outasight. An art display will feature selected works from Special Olympics Nevada athlete Alisa Goldstein.

Dinner will begin at 7:00 pm. with a special musical performance by George Bugatti.

The evening will also feature an address by 1984 Olympic Gold Medallist Mitch Gaylord. Mitch will inspire guests of the gala with his personal story regarding his achievements through participation in sports.

The gala will also recognize the accomplishments of the six Special Olympics Nevada athletes selected as delegates to TEAM USA ¬ Nevada for the Special Olympics, Inc. World Winter Games in Anchorage, Alaska. The largest sporting event ever to be staged in Alaska, the World Winter Games will join over 2,300 Special Olympics athletes from over 80 nations in a spirit of friendship and athletic competition. The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with mental retardation, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
