Harrah's, Laughlin, NV

Well, I just returned from the hottest week I have ever spent.. Just seeing David made it even hotter! We left Los Alamitos at 8am Wednesday, & arrived at Laughlin at about 1pm, after driving through the most desolate desert I'd ever seen.

We checked into Tower 1 of Harrah's, then picked up the tickets for the show. They told me on the phone that my seats were in row DD (4TH ROW), but when I got there, they were printed up as VV. After a few moments of quiet persuasion, they moved me up to row BB for Weds & CC for Thursday. What luck!

It was sweltering by mid-day (114) & only climbing. I was hoping that it would go down, but by show-time, it was still 107. I dressed in my coolest outfit for the show, & my parents & I left for the amphitheater at 7:30. Other audience members were moving up to the first row, so I joined Joyce.

SUE & BEAU arrived a few moments later & sat in the row behind us. While Sue caught up with a friend, I asked BEAU about his baseball team & he enthusiastically told me about how well his team did in the finals. He played 2nd base through the whole season & made a bunch of great catches! He was so excited about his baseball that it reminded me of how all of his dad's fans talk about David!

DAVID wore the same purple satin shirt throughout the entire show, as it was too hot to peel off in the short break that CANDICE sang her song. She & DAVID had so much personality & sex appeal during RIVER DEEP MOUNTAIN HIGH!

The audience High Roller seats filled up, so I went back to the second row, with SUE & BEAU right across the aisle from me. SUE was clapping along with all the songs, & I caught BEAU singing along with his dad on LYING TO MYSELF!

I loved the blues-like band intos & how it blended into C'MON GET HAPPY, which was jazzed up! It sounded great! I also loved the story that went along with it, about how he recorded the song in 18 minutes between scenes on the PF, then never heard it again. This was the age before VCRS, & he was always working & touring on Fridays! So when people started stopping him on the street to sing it to him, he couldn't remember the song!

At the end, during I THINK I LOVE YOU, I raced to the stage & his eyes lit up for a brief second, & he said, Hi darlin! We stayed at the edge of the stage as he sang CRY as a finale!

Thurs morning, we woke up & decided to go to the mall nearbye. It was an outlet mall unfortunately, so I wasn't able to get my film developed. Came back & spoke to the Human Resources Dept about arranging to get a show poster to Auction off for the Leukemia Society. She told me to come back before I checked out & she'd see what she could give me. Spent the rest of the afternoon at the River Rapids Casino. They put together a Senior Citizens dance line, featuring past & present Mrs Senior NV winners. It was interesting!

When we got back, Joyce brought little David to the room to bring a video for me to add to, & I started getting ready for the show. I was going by myself Thurs night, so all bets were off! I moved to the first row & stayed there! The audience was just as small, but even more enthusiastic. Suzanne Crough was there, but I didn't say hi to her.

David learned his lesson from Weds night. He wore a long-sleeved cotton men's shirt for the first half & changed into a short sleeved fitted cotton T- which really showed off his chest!!! A few ladies screamed "Take it all off!" Later, he told a joke about being naked in the desert & finding a genie in a lamp. The genie gave his ex-wife twice what David got: First 2 wishes: $10million & a new mansion in Beverly Hills. The last wish: Beat Me half to death! (Wonder which wife he was thinking about!)

The coolest part of the evening was when he ripped into a few lines of "Purple Haze," but twisting the first line to the oft-mis-heard lyric "Kiss that Guy" (the second time was sung right: "kiss the sky". Joyce got into the act, but I'll let her tell it.
