THE INCAHOOTS, ST. LOUIS

May 3, 2001
Harrah's, St. Louis, MO

By: Gail

PART 1:

I flew in at around noon Barb picked me up we went straight to the station and picked up Judi, Leigh, Lesley and Suzi. It was great to see them again, since we left each other on the Sunday. We went to Barb's and got ready. Then we went to Incahoots.

The place was not like the Showboat, it was a Country and Western, bar kinda like a big warehouse! When we got there there was one girl sat outside, she'd been there since noon, she said David and Patrick had just arrived and gone in, shoot we just missed it!!!

Anyways when we went in, the seats were in rows, but some were way to the side and the one's at the back were miles away. We had really crappy seats. Anyway, I had my T-shirt on and this guy noticed the flag and I said we'd come all the way from the UK, so could we move up at first he said no, but then he said when the show starts Move, boy did we move. Judi, Leigh, Lesley and Suzi were in the front row and me and Barb were 3rd row, but centre isle, so it was great.

David was sensational as always, he made a joke about the place, said something about it being the most unique place he'd ever played after his migrane had gone and he dug the plastic seats and neon, very funny.

I think they had some sound problems at first cos David kept nodding to the band. Anyway cos it was a country and Western place, David said Lon Bronson wanted to sing, so he, Lon Bronson came out and sang Rawhide. It was too funny. Afterwards David came back on and said "Wasn't that the most embarrassing thing you've ever seen!!"

David went through the songs like at AC. We were clapping cheering and standing up, but some of the high rollers were quiet, so David made a comment at them, "if you don't stand up on your own I'll make you stand up!" He also called his fans to the front and also told the ones at the back to come forward too.

You know, the guy is just so good to the fans, he knows he can't come out like the Copa show, and he knows we want to get close to him. So he does this cos he knows we want it, god he's just the best.

Anyway, when I got to the front he saw the T-shirt. He bent down to read the slogan, he read it slowly, he looked stunned. He said he'd be in England next year. Then a girl gave him another one with his pic on he held it up and said "what do you want me to do with this?" She said "wipe your face," so he wiped his face and gave it back to her.

He was working so hard holding hands, doing high fives, touching peoples hair and faces, we carressed his leg and ankle but one girl grabbed his waist and leg so he said "I'd better move back." One girl got on the stage and security took her off. Wish people wouldn't do that. Some go too far. One girl was putting her hand up his leg too far, and he said "Careful baby, your nearly at the X zone!!"

The stage was lower than at the Showboat. I think so he seamed closer to us. He ended with Cry, god I love that. He was swigging beer from a bottle at the end and he stood by me, so I looked up and he handed the bottle to me. I think he also threw a towel out, He said "let's continue the party at Harrah's!" At the time it didn't click!!! Well that's all I remember. Does anyone else?

Oh yeah, after one of the guys said "did you enjoy that, was it worth coming all the way from London?" I said "Yes you bet it was!!!"

He said, "we wanted him to do a meet and greet, but he wouldn't." We said we agree with him. Why should he meet people that are not interested, we know he'd rather meet real fans, that put him in his place!!! We all stayed chatting for a while and then decided to eat. Denny's or Harrah's? Harrah's won, and I'm glad it did, cos the best was yet to come...

PART 2:

Afterwards we went to Harrah's for a meal, played the slots. Then we were leaving. I stood by the entrance waiting for Suzi when I saw David coming in with his brother Patrick and a few more. I said "here comes David!" The others said "yeah, whatever!" (why does no-one ever believe me). Any way as he came through the barrier, I turned around and he said "Hi there, how are you?" I didn't go all daft this time. I actually shook his hand and had a proper conversation, told him how brilliant the show was, how we'd all been at Atlantic City and I'd be in Las Vegas. He said he'd be in England in September. They were all in the casino for about half hour walking around. We left and they were behind us (David and Patrick) coming out. David and Patrick hugged, and Patrick caught up with us. Suzi started chatting to him. He was great. He said "have you all seen David's show? Well, come see mine, it's better." They said they are tomorrow . I asked him if he'd be in the London production later. He said he'd like too, but they usually have a London cast.
