DC Rocked The Grove

February 14, 2002

The Grove Theatre, Anaheim, CA.

The Grove Theatre

On Feb. 14th, I went to see David perform at The Grove in Ahehiem, CA. Since it was Valentine's Day and at a nice dinner theatre, I took the opportunity to dress up and wore a new black dress with red roses print on it and my black velvet cape with deep red velvet lining. I got many complements from fellow fans on the cape and another fan wore a simular cape that was red on the outside. It was wonderful seeing many familiar DC fans that are friends and my husband and I made some new friends at dinner as well!

Former P.F. member and friend, Danny Bonaduce came out as David's opening act and was as funny as usual. Danny came out in a ruffled white shirt that was one of David's old PF shirts with a purple suede jacket that looked like something Jimi Hendrix or Prince would have worn. Very funny! David later brought Danny out with him too. David came out in more casual "rock" clothes than the last time I saw him perform in Laughlin. He had tight jeans and a white t-shirt on and later changed into a black shirt. Actually at first, David wore the white ruffled white PF shirt that Danny wore previously as a joke. David mentioned that E.T. (Entertainment Tonight) was there and interviewed them before the show and he said while still having the ruffled shirt on "This is probably the clip they'll have of me with the comment of 'David Cassidy, still stuck in the 70's!'" LOL!! "Entertainment Tonight" did show a clip of David and Danny together on Tuesday, Feb. 19th as their feature story.

Being the little rock 'n' roller that I am, I was extremely pleased that David added some more rockin' tunes such as "Rock Me Baby" and "C.C. RIder Blues/ Jenny Jenny." Here are all of the songs David sang in this order: "I Can Feel Your Heartbeat", "C.C. Rider Blues/Jenny Jenny", "I'll Meet You Halfway", "No Bridge I Wouldn't Cross", "Echo Valley 2-6809", "How Can I Be Sure", "Try a Little Tenderness", "River Deep, Mountain High", "Rescue Me" (Candace Davis-Martin), "Mack the Knife", "Lyin' to Myself", "Rock Me Baby", "Cherish", "I Woke Up in Love This Morning", "C'Mon Get Happy", "I Think I Love You", "Ain't No Sunshine", "Hollywood Nights". David was just AWESOME !! His voice was in top condition and he really worked it! As David's new t-shirt for the tour says "David Cassidy Rocked My World!"

One fan Amy Shatzen got some lovely photos of David on stage and she has up to share with fans here. I'm sure you'll join me in thanking Amy for being so nice as to share her beautiful photos with all of us!!

After the show, I waited at the back entrance in hopes of getting a few photos of David before leaving. There were already some other fans waiting behind a fenced off area with plenty of security. My husband Mike decided to take a photo of me in line with the other fans. So there I am in the photo above in my black cape. It was rather chilly that night so I was glad that I had something warm for after the show. Most of the fans were in my age range of 30 and 40-something. The man next to me on the right had brought his two young girls who watched PF shows he'd video taped and so they were also fans. They were very cute! There were three fans who looked be teen-agers but most of us were long time fans who were waiting patiently for David to come out and hopefully pose for some photos.

David leaving The Grove Theatre

After a while, we saw a white van pull up to the stage entrance. David entered and got in the van. The van drove slowly by while David waved us shouting "Happy Valentine's Day!" Above is a photo I took.
