The Fabulous Mohegan Weekend

Saturday October 22, 2005.

David Cassidy, Oct 22, 2005

After swearing for months that I would not return to Mohegan Sun, *someone* convinced me to go at the last minute (Joyce!!), so I bought my airfare on Thursday and left Denver at midnight Friday night, heading for Boston. Then from Boston I drove to Mohegan, stopping off at Joyce's hotel to pick her up.

Joyce had already arrived on Thursday. After we met up, Joyce told me that The Wolf Den had started a new procedure, where they took the names of the people in line, in order to preserve their places (although someone still had to remain in the line to save the spots). So luckily we were 4th on the list, excellent! You know the article that was posted, from the Norwich Bulletin about the DC fans already in line? In that article, Shirley and Anthony Harker from Manchester England are quoted.well that's "Shirl" and "Ant" that we always see at Mohegan, and they are close friends with Joyce, so that's who we sat with during the show. They are the nicest couple you will ever meet in your life, and Shirl gave me a picture I will always treasure (I'll post it soon).thank you Shirl, I love you!!!

Speaking of that article, that was just SO GOOD.THANKS Barb, Janie, Meesh and Barbara, it was great, you made the fans look so "sane!" "He melts your pantyhose"..could there be a better description of him?? So perfect.

Mohegan Sun Concert 2005

When Joyce and I arrived at the casino, the line was already very long, and I saw so many people I knew, it was just incredibly fun! Lots of UK girls (how in the world do you girls afford it??) and lots of people I'd met previously at Mohegan, plus all the "regular" crowd, wow it was great. And then I saw Donna! Yahoo, my long lost friend LOL, thank God for Mohegan, we DO get to see each other occasionally there! She had told me she couldn't come (well I said that too..just call me liar.) so it was another wonderful surprise in the day. (You guys should see how big Andrew and Ally are now!).

As the afternoon went on, the line got more and more crowded. A casino employee came over and told us, when we are allowed to enter the Wolf Den, we MUST stay in our seats until the show starts..no one will be allowed to stand at the stage. This ended up being a good thing. It gave us all a chance to sit down for awhile and rest. Of course, the very moment the lights dimmed, everybody was up and at the stage, it took less than 2 seconds for that stage to be lined LOL!

David playing his guitar

Then that familiar music..and the band appears.(oh I'm getting exciting just re-living this part) Then Lisa says "Are you ready to have a good time? Are you ready to have a GREAT TIME? Here he is, the one, the only..DAVID CASSIDY!!!" and we all are staring at the "cave" where David always comes out... "Heartbeat" is playing, but where is David? He suddenly appeared from the top of the rocks, and walked down the steps! He looked HAPPY. It's going to be a wonderful show.

The audience went wild. He looked gorgeous. The anticipation of this "last show" had everybody excited. When each song ended, the screaming was loud, and David would look both surprised and delighted each time. He explained that it was not his LAST SHOW, just his last concert of 2005, and then said he'd be back at the Wolf Den in April 06. YES!!!!! He plugged the Rat Pack shows, both at Mohegan and in New York. He seems entirely pleased over the path Rat Pack is taking. He also said he is moving to NY.

David Cassidy

During the acoustic set, some girls directly in front of him were talking to each other quite loudly. David spoke directly to them and said "please don't talk while I'm trying to sing. You don't realize, you're only 3 feet away from me, and it's very distracting." They giggled over this, which just ticked David off, and he said "ok now it's funny." and just looked away. He made it through a few songs, but when he came to ITILY, he asked that everyone let him sing it his way, slowly, and "please don't sing along"..well of course the rude ones didn't listen and started loudly singing, then yelling "FASTER!".so David just stopped right in the middle of the song and put his acoustic guitar down! The band hastily ran out and David proceeded with the rest of the show, making some comment about "well since you didn't listen to what I asked."

Lon and Candace were not there, but David did the band intros and thanked each one for all their support.

During one song (don't remember which, but I'm sure Lesley does.), David put his hand out to Lesley, and took it, and put the microphone to her mouth and said "what's your name honey" and she said "Lesley" with her cute UK accent, and David then repeated it, in HIS UK accent. "Lesley." and I can completely see why he picked her.the look on her face was so lovely, completely into his voice and how wonderful he looked. She was radiating love. I think every girl there could relate to her at that point. A beautiful moment.

A little later, David came to Joyce, who was patiently waiting with lei in hand. He bent down to her and put the lei on, then said "Tell me your name again" and put the microphone down to her, she said "Joyce". He said "Joyce always brings me these lovely leis from Hawaii.you're from Hawaii, right?" to which Joyce just shook her head yes.LOL..whatever! Then David said "Lei'd on stage again" and somebody giggled, and he said "no really, that's what they call it, when you get a lei, being lei'd."

Mohegan Sun, 2005

Thanks for explaining that to us David LOL.

Dean Martin's son, Rikki Martin, was in the audience, and also was performing the next night in the Wolf Den. David announced him and said he was his "brother" and that their fathers had been close friends. David also had some personal friends in the audience, relating to his horse racing, I think it was his trainer's wife and mother?

David touched as many people as possible while he sang, it was lovely. He took a few items and held them up, but didn't sign any autographs. We even got "Cry" as an encore.a perfect ending to a wonderful show.

I just want to say, to all that were at Mohegan, thanks for a great weekend and I'm just so very grateful that Joyce talked me into going, it was all really great. I love you all, Joyce, Shirl, Ant, little Ann and new friend Nancy (nice meeting you), Felicia, Nadine, Amy, Clara & Freda, Donna, Patty, everybody from UK: Gail, Sheila, Lesley, Rose, Agi, Ann, Susan, Christine, and all the ones I can't understand LOL (sorry), and Annette and Barbara that I just met last March, great to see you all. And anybody else I forgot, thanks for a really fun weekend.

One of the best shows I've ever seen. Thank you David!
