Friday
Well I am back I am no longer a Concert Virgin. Fri I Checked in to the Casino Hotel right behind the back of the Casino. I was in Bldg. C 2nd Floor. My niece and I got ready I even curled my hair which I have not done in 3 years. The shuttle picked us up at 7:00 and we went in to the Casino. The Theater is right inside the front entrance to the left. We got right in my seats were in section B. I tried to find Beth and Carol I even made a sign but did not know what they looked like. I was very surprised how small and intimate the Venue was. I am used to The Coliseum where David played in 1972 and The Rose Garden they are huge. The Theater was tiny compared to those. David came on a little after 8:00 He opened with Hush. He had a white shirt & what looked like black Levis on. I was so happy to finally see my dream come true. When he played Echo Valley it made me cry. It was a cumulation of my childhood memories and dreams and the feeling that now I am all grown up I would love so very much to be able to go back for just a little while to those innocent days. It was a poignant and bitter sweet moment for me. David remarked he had heard the theater sound was good and he liked the way he sounded here. (Now I have been emailing his fan site forever begging him to come back to Oregon.) So I was happy when he said he was glad to be back in OR some 35 yrs later. When asked on Sat why it took so long for him to come back to us he said he did not know.

He told us how the trip getting here was rough. He had left his vacation home in Albany, NY on Thurs. Lightening struck the O'Hare Airport causing delays in his flight and it took him 18 ½ hrs to get here. Then he had to get up at 6:15 am after just getting in at 10:30 PM Thurs night. He did not say why. But it was to appear on our local TV Show, AM, on KATU Channel 2. Then it was a 3 HR drive from Portland to Lincoln City. I think he must have stayed at a house or another Hotel off site of the Casino. As I was told he was not registered any where in the Hotel system. The Hotel Suites were not private enough for a star to go unnoticed. Back to Fri night there were a lot of women trying to get at him and people talking. He told them sev times to please stop. He also told one guy to go talk to his girlfriend some where else. I have heard he will stop playing if annoyed by someone and he did it sev times. Once on Sat because he did not like the way we all shouted "Hey" to the Beatles song he was singing. There were 2 women who gave him flowers when he asked one of them why she sent so many to him. She replied "when I was 14 I was having a real rough time & I almost killed myself, then I thought no David would not want that." Well, of course he acknowledged her big time for that. A lot of people rushed the aisles to the front I went up once to take a PIC. All my PICS suck as all I had was my cell phone. He dedicated Cherish to all of us fans. Several people brought albums and stuff. He looked at one album and said "well wasn't she Pretty" poking fun at his long hair and good looks back then. He signed a lot of the stuff as he sang. I had brought my fav CD but there was no way to get up there. I did bring Aracelie's PIC and I had my Sharpie ready so I did try. I learned a lot on how to get what you want by watching other people. Next time I will be prepared. The acoustic guitar David had to play had major problems with the tuning and strings and he commented on that. He finally gave up and used his Electric Guitar instead. There were some glitches in the sound system a few times. He seemed genuinely happy to be back here again and said how beautiful OR was. He had energy even though it was so hot.

He did some gyrations and jumping around on stage. He talked about John Lennon coming to his house on New Year's Eve 1974 and how great he was and Yoko too. He said how he loved the old Partridge Family Songs. He also played both nights (what he said was a song he really loved). Aint' No Sunshine When She's Gone by Bill Withers. He played Lying to Myself and talked about how he wrote it with Sue the Mother of his Child in 1990 and it was probably the reason he recorded again. By the way it was VERY HOT 90 plus degrees and he kept commenting on it. He was just dripping sweat all over his towel and at one point said to the ladies up front "Don't worry it's just sweat really" He played until a little after 9:30 PM thanked us and exited there was no encore. We exited and were waiting for the Shuttle Bus we got tired and took off walking. There in the Parking Lot walking by us was the Band. They were all staying right down from my room at the Hotel. We watched Frank and Rod go to their rooms we also saw Terry and Matt go to theirs. We then walked to the beach right where the Hotel Suites are located did not see any sign of David staying there. It was dark and people were hollering and lighting off fireworks on the beach most of the night. I finally dozed around 3:00 am hoping for better luck with Saturday's Concert.
