Concert Review

Indiana State Fair

August 15, 2007

Well as you know I drove back from California to make it for the concert on the 15th. I made it by the seat of my pants. I sat down and 3 minutes later David comes out on stage. But that is getting a little ahead of myself. I need to tell a little bit of a story before hand and I will keep it short. I promise.

Before I left California the brakes went out on the car and had to put on new ones. I left California on Sunday 12th of August after visiting with my brother and his wife's family. I left at 8 p.m. and drove to the California/Nevada state line and got a room and hit the hay. Got up at about 6:30 a.m., did the usual morning things and headed out. That day I drove from the state line to Laramie Wyoming. 1132 miles and then got a room and rested. Got up on Tuesday and did the same thing and arrived in Peoria Illinois that night at 3 a.m. That was about 1157 miles on that one. The first day was uneventful but the second day was the fun one. I got into Nebraska and was driving along and got a flat tire. I pulled over safely and started pulling everything out of the trunk to get to the spare. I did that changed the tire and put the bad one in the trunk and put everything back into the trunk. Drove 65 miles to a Walmart to have them repair the tire. Now mind you I had just bought the tire in June before I left for California. They said that they would pro-rate it and not replace it. So I paid for a tire and went on my merry way. Yea right! You know if one goes the other one always follows. Murphy's Law. I got another 50 to 60 miles on the road and sure enough the other one went. (Only in Nebraska LOL) Same thing at the next Wal-Mart. They pro-rated it. I settled it at the Wal-mart that I bought them at and got reimbursed for the tires. Okay so enough on the mishaps prior to the concert.

Indian Fair had a thing that if you got there at noon you could get a Gold Ticket and get a seat on the track. Well I missed that one of course I was still in Peoria. That's ok as I didn't have a bad seat. I got to the fair grounds at about 7:20 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. I pull around and park in the handicap area (long story will tell later if needed) then I see this big hill to climb and the parking attendant sees that my hip is not good and gets a guy with a golf cart and has him take me up to the grandstand and to the elevator as there are tons of stairs to climb. I got to my seat (it was a free concert you only had to pay for parking or if you walked in) and got my camera out and he walked out onto the stage. Dang it! The same outfit! White shirt and black pants. Oh well he still looked good. And looked like he cut his hair. He joked with an Elvis impersonator and a few people in the audience. Craig J was there and so were the backup singers that he had at Mohegan in May. There was also another lady there singing backup that I have never seen before. David sang great as usual and had a fun time. Someone even had a program from the time he had played there in 1972. I took pictures and also video taped some of the show. I will post some videos to MySpace and give the link to it so others can see pics and videos that are on MySpace. I know David did I'll Meet You Halfway twice but it was nice to hear it in accoustic style and then in the re-mix style. He did do a lot of talkin and did talk about two of the PF books #13 and #5 (there are 17 total) and about the Re-Mix cd that hopefully everyone will buy. (David's words). All in all it was great. David started the show at 7:37 p.m. and ended the show at 9:22 p.m. A good show and glad that I made it.

Here is the list of songs that David did:
I CAN FEEL YOUR HEARTBEAT
HOW CAN I BE SURE
POINT ME IN THE DIRECTION OF ALBUQUERQUE
COULD IT BE FOREVER
ROCK ME BABY
HEY YOU GOT TO HID YOUR LOVE AWAY
I'LL MEET YOU HALFWAY
AIN'T NO SUNSHINE
CHERISH (RE-MIX)
BAND INTRO/COM'ON GET HAPPY
I WOKE UP IN LOVE THIS MORNING (RE-MIX)
I THINK I LOVE YOU (RE-MIX)
CROSSROADS (ENCORE)

Can't wait until the nine in Orlando and the one in New Jersey. Until next time.
