The Shirt!
Silvia, from Germany, and Jane, from Australia, met through Jane's website www.davidcassidyfansite.com They soon became good friends and decided to get together during David's UK tour in April 2007.
Many discussions ensued about itinerary, getting tickets, what to wear and what they would like David to sing in concert; and especially what to give him for his birthday. The idea of 'The Shirt' was developed when Silvia saw "Spirit of `76" (The part about the Constitution). Songs that David had written were chosen and needless to say they would like David to sing. Titles only were originally discussed but the ladies knew that David might need prompting with the lyrics. Besides some of the lyrics are very good.
Silvia developed the design and organised the printing of the text.
Three shirts were made, one for David and one each for Silvia and Jane to wear.
Silvia decided to try to give the shirt to David for his birthday on April 12th in Nottingham.
It was Silvia's way of giving something back to David, as a way of saying thanks for making so many people in the world happy.
Jane found a very helpful gentleman that worked at the venue who promised to give the shirt to David. Later he found the ladies to say that the shirt had found it's way backstage.
Then... on June the 9th David wore 'The Shirt' for his encore performance.
Silvia and Jane love their shirts but both agree that the shirt looks much better on David!
We hope to see it again David .... and maybe you could sing a song from the shirt!
