In the '70s, David Cassidy was a teen idol with millions of adoring fans. However, in recent years, David says he's gone through some difficult times.

David Cassidy has pleaded with the Judge to allow him to auction off his Florida home to help pay off his back debt according to a Tuesday, June 30 report from MSN. David Cassidy reportedly owes millions of dollars in back debt. The former teen idol filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this year revealing in a court document that while he had $3,714,913 in assets, he owed $2,143,367.97 in liabilities.

If he was going to be able to pay back his debts, he needed to liquify some of his assets, which include property in the Bahamas, cars, furniture, but only about $3k in cash. David Cassidy bought the six-bedroom house in 2001 for $1.1 million. The luxury home has a swimming pool and a boat dock. The house is set to go on the market on Sept. 9. Fisher Auction Company has been overseeing the sale in which bidders must prequalify to participate in the auction.

As previously reported, David Cassidy has had his share of troubles with the law over the years. The pop singer has battled substance abuse issues for a long time and spent time last year in rehab. He was charged with a DUIs in November 2010, August 2013 and January 2014. One month after his third arrest, David's his wife, Sue Shifrin-Cassidy, filed for divorce revealing she had had enough. David Cassidy, now 65, first achieved fame and is widely known for his role as Keith Partridge in the 1970s musical-sitcom "The Partridge Family." The role led David in becoming one of pop culture's most celebrated teen idols, and a successful pop career in the 1970s. He has since had a career in both acting and music.
