The Pilot

The following is a list of little-known facts about the Pilot of The Partridge Family:

  • Filmed in December 1969.
  • Filmed at Columbia Ranch, Burbank, California.
  • Original pilot runs for 35 minutes.
  • The house used in the pilot was from the TV show "I Dream of Jeannie".
  • Shirley Jones was called Connie Partridge.
  • Shirley dated a man in the episode played by her then real-life husband, Jack Cassidy (and David's father).
  • The musical sequence was longer than those featured in the later episodes.
  • The Partridge Family supposedly lived in Ohio.
  • While on stage in Vegas, Shirley reminds them about the "five of us" rehearsing in their garage. There are actually six of them.
  • David did not sing any of the songs included within the pilot episode. It was brought to the attention of the producers by his manager, Ruth Aarons, that David had previously been in garage bands in high school in Los Angeles and sang in the church choir as a child in New Jersey. David was given a chance after the pilot was filmed and those songs were recorded.
