The Partridge Family - Season 1, Episode 12 (12)

Title: My Son, The Feminist

First aired: December 11, 1970

Synopsis:

Shirley gets a call from the school principal, asking her if she and her family are identified with women's lib. A poster in the school is saying that they will sing at the rally for P.O.W, Power of Women. Shirley tries to work out which member of the family committed them to perform at the rally. She finds out that it was Keith. The family is annoyed that Keith promised they would perform without discussing it with them first.

Keith suggested to his girlfriend Tina, who is a member of P.O.W, that The Partridge Family could appear at the rally. Tina is very involved with the movement and mistook Keith's suggestion of maybe appearing at the rally as a definite yes.

Shirley has to confront angry, hostile parents who are a group called "Morality Watchdogs." She tries to keep her cool when she listens and takes their threats, but she finally loses her temper and states that The Partridge Family will definitely appear at the rally, and she hopes they have their own keyhole they can peep through.

Shirley suggests to Keith that as they are appearing at the rally for Tina, maybe they should finally meet her. Keith invites her over for dinner. The family is surprised about what Tina says about women's rights.

Keith is really angry and upset at what Tina said and when he takes her home, he refuses to walk her to the door, or even kiss her goodnight. He says if she wants equality, she can have it.

On the day of the rally, Tina confronts Keith and tells him that the family have to sing her songs, not their own. She feels his lyrics are degrading to women and wants to sensor them. Keith gets very upset and storms offstage. Shirley tells him that they promised people that they would sing, and they will, regardless of his and Tina's fight.

The Partridge Family sing "I Think I Love You." The "Morality Watchdogs" at first hate it, but then change their mind. When Tina sees the crowd's reaction her anger begins to fade.

After the ordeal with P.O.W, the family is shocked and surprised to learn that Danny has committed them to perform for the "Morality Watchdogs."
