The Partridge Family - Season 1, Episode 7 (7)

Title: Danny And The Mob

First aired: November 6, 1970

Synopsis:

The family is busy rehearsing for a Las Vegas performance when a beautiful blonde woman appears by the name of La Von La Vern. Reuben and Keith are dismayed and disappointed when La Von asks to see Danny. As LaVon and Danny leave together, Laurie explains that La Von has taken Danny on as her personal stock advisor.

Much to La Von’s annoyance, her love life seems to be at a standstill. Her businessman fiancé, Harry, has property interests in town and La Von feels she is nothing more than his permanent fiancé. She wants to get out of town and away from Harry, but to do so, she needs money. Danny, although only 10 years old, is her chosen financial advisor.

Harry is a Mobster and has friends in high places. When he finds out about Danny Partridge, Harry is jealous, so he recruits two friends (Mobster thugs) to scare Danny as a warning to keep away from La Von. The mobster friends, Rocco and Skee, spy on Danny. They’re surprised to discover that he’s just a kid, but they go ahead with their job, determined to frighten him. It works and Danny is absolutely terrified as they warn him, ‘Stay away from La Von, or else.’

Danny is so fearful; he reports Rocco and Skee to the police. He remains frightened for his life, yet he doesn’t confide in his family. Eventually Shirley and Reuben become very concerned about Danny’s strange behaviour so they ask La Von if she knows anything.

Eventually La Von realises that Harry is the reason for Danny’s fearful behaviour. She insists that he is a child, only ten years old, but Harry does not believe her. To Harry, Danny Partridge is La Von’s ‘other man’ and he wants revenge!

Rocco and Skee again go looking for Danny who runs for his life through the park and the streets, hiding in every possible place. They find him and bring him back to Harry, as requested by a very angry La Von. Danny insists that Rocco and Skee not be arrested because he has a better idea. An idea that involves a wedding!

At last, La Von gets her wish and she becomes Harry’s wife at a wedding attended by the family. Harry’s very recent and swollen black eye demonstrates who truly is the boss in this relationship! As each guest lines up to kiss the bride, Danny refuses to take part. After all the trouble he inadvertently caused, he has no desire to be caught kissing La Von.

Suddenly, to Danny’s horror, Rocco and Skee show their might again, by lifting Danny up high. Surprisingly, they also demonstrate their gentle side by then presenting Danny to La Von, who plants a big kiss on Danny’s cheek!
