The Partridge Family - Season 2, Episode 3 (28)

Title: A Man Called Snake

First aired: October 1, 1971

Synopsis:

Keith gives an interview for a popular magazine. Besides other gossip he tells everybody that his sister Laurie likes boys, and that she has a crush on a school mate, Harry Murphy. Laurie is angry at him, for interfering, telling untruths, and also giving a boy’s wrong name. Keith apologizes, but it’s not the end of that story.

To everybody’s astonishment a member of a motorcycle gang, whose name is Harry Murphy, comes to visit Laurie to see who made fun of him. He looks rather dangerous, even Reuben is afraid of him. He asks everybody to call him Snake as everyone in the gang call him that.

Snake starts visiting Laurie at school and soon everybody, including teachers, know that a member of a motorcycle gang has a crush on Laurie Partridge. Laurie is worried and wants to get rid of Snake. She decides to have a serious talk with him.

After returning home, she says that upon closer acquaintance, Snake turns out to be very kind and sensitive and he has even written a poem for her. Keith thinks that Laurie is very naive, and Shirley is not happy that her daughter will have a date with someone who looks like Snake. Laurie is very disappointed that her mother judges Snake on the way he looks. After meeting with Snake and his band, Keith and Danny change their minds about him too. He is really a very nice and cool guy.

Laurie and Snake go for a school ball together. Snake tries very hard, even puts on uncomfortable clothes other than his usual jeans, but he can’t stand it when two boys laugh at his dance. Despite this their date is very successful. Keith and Shirley wait impatiently for Laurie, because even if Snake is nice, he is still not very suitable for her. But Laurie is not afraid to speak her mind and tells Snake that she likes him very much but nothing more. He understands, he has a great respect for Laurie and they agree to stay just friends.
