The Partridge Family - Season 2, Episode 9 (34)

Title: Tale of Two Hamsters

First aired: November 12, 1971

Synopsis:

Danny, Chris and Tracy start a new business, they have invested some money in two hamsters. Shirley hesitates to let kids keep them, but they promise they will take care of the hamsters ourselves. Shirley thinks it can be a good lesson of responsibility for kids and agrees.

Chris wakes Shirley one night, saying that something is wrong with one of the pets. The whole family watches the birth of little hamsters. Soon, after a couple of weeks, the number of hamsters is really impressive.

When The Partridge Family has to go for a recording session, Danny tries to find a ‘babysitter’ for hamsters, but he can’t find one. There is no choice, the hamsters have to go with the family. There are more than 40 cages on the bus. Danny brings one hamster to the recording studio with him, and its squeaks, interfering with the recording. The hotel doesn’t accept such guests, and Keith, Shirley, Reuben and Danny ride the bus all night long to keep the hamsters warm.

Shirley tells the kids to give the hamsters away as it’s not possible to love and care for so many pets. But no one wants hamsters, even for free.

Finally, Danny finds the solution - a free hamster with every purchase of a Partridge Family album. It’s a great idea and the manager of a department store agrees to such a deal. The family spends a whole afternoon signing albums for fans and each hamster finds a new home.
