The Partridge Family - Season 3, Episode 1 (50)

Title: This Male Chauvinist Piggy Went To Market

First aired: September 15th, 1972

Synopsis:

At Laurie and Keith's school the students have to do a role reversal where the boys take home economics, sewing and etiquette classes, and the girls have to take auto shop and self-defence classes.

At home Keith says that girls have it way easier than boys and that women are inferior to men. Laurie challenges him to compete against her in their own battle of the sexes. Laurie bets Keith that he can't make pancakes in the time she changes a tyre. Laurie wins, so Keith challenges her to a second task, which Laurie also wins.

Laurie spreads the news around school that she bet Keith at their own battle of the sexes, which has other students come up to Keith and tease him that he lost to a girl, which embarrasses Keith. The school bully, Goose, hears about Laurie beating Keith and harasses Keith about it. When he starts to get violent towards Keith, Laurie comes to Keith's rescue and judo body flips Goose, which embarrasses Keith's situation at school even further.

Goose keeps harassing Keith with home phone calls and threatening notes. This makes Keith frightened, and he starts wearing disguises and taking different ways home. When Shirley offers to speak to Goose, Keith tells her not to because it will make things worse. The Partridges are due to do a concert in the weekend at the town's celebratory fair-day. Shirley says they will cancel, but Keith is certain that Goose is incapable of reading the posters around town advertising the concert, so he won't turn up.

Keith is happy when they perform at the concert because he doesn't see Goose in the audience. He goes backstage and finds Goose is waiting there with his gang. Goose threatens Keith and Laurie comes to Keith's aid again by saying that Keith has a black belt in judo. Shirley arrives and tells Goose she is not impressed that he has been frightening Keith. Keith asks Shirley to leave things as he will handle the situation. He stands up to Goose by telling him he will not fight him over such a silly issue. Goose goes to punch him in the face and Keith stands his ground, so Goose backs down and walks away, saying he now has respect for Keith standing up to him.

Back at home, Keith wants Laurie to teach him how to flip someone. When Laurie shows him, he goes to find Danny to flip him, only Danny flips Keith instead because Laurie has taught Danny the manoeuvre. Laurie also tells Keith to watch out for Tracy, as she has also taught her the same manoeuvre.
