Title: Whatever Happened To Keith Partridge?

First aired: November 24th 1972

Synopsis:
A talent agent is at The Partridge Family’s concert, and, after it, to everyone’s surprise invites Keith for a screen test for the upcoming movie. The title of the film is ‘Hitchhike From Death’ and Keith’s screen test is for a starring role of a baby-faced gangster. The Partridge Family and Reuben Kincaid go to Hollywood together. Make-up dramatically changes Keith’s appearance, the screen test goes well, and he gets the part. The whole town is excited and convinced that Keith will become a movie star, and a surprise farewell party is organized for him. At the last moment, the film company changes its mind, and Keith loses his role. He has to tell his friends who wait for him at the party about this huge disappointment. It is a bitter experience for him, but he has the full support and love of his family.

At the beginning of that episode there is a short reprise of ‘Am I Losing You’ (Irwin Levine, L. Russell Brown), at the end a cover of Gene Pitney’s song - ‘Looking Through The Eyes Of Love (Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil)

One of the rare TPF’s episodes in which David Cassidy could show his acting skills and revealed the whole range of emotions that Keith experienced in it. Disbelief, anxiety, joy and disappointment. He was in every scene. It was one of the few TPF’s episodes David Cassidy liked, because it was different, and everybody was astonished by DC’s metamorphosis as Gambini. He wrote about this experience in his autobiography. Also, in that episode there is one of the most memorable musical number from the TPF series, David Cassidy’s performance of ‘Looking Through The Eyes Of Love’.
