Title: A Day of Honesty

Synopsis:

Danny returns from the cinema in a police car after he tried to see a movie without paying for a ticket. Shirley tells him that what he’s done is very serious and that every person is responsible for their own actions. The punishment is hard for Danny - one month without going to the cinema.

Danny discovers that each member of the family, including Reuben, is a little bit dishonest in everyday life. Shirley proposes an experiment, one day of total honesty. But it appears that it’s not easy, everyone gets into trouble when they have to tell the truth. Keith loses some money when he tells the truth about his car’s condition, and the boring neighbour takes offence at Shirley when she tells her that she is too busy and has no time for a conversation.

Before the rehearsal, Danny answers a phone call. Jim Benson, a popular basketball player, cancels his date with Laurie for another girl. Danny lies because he doesn’t want to hurt Laurie’s feelings. He tells his mum about it. Shirley says that Danny’s learned his lesson, but his punishment is not cancelled. No cinema for a month!

When Laurie learns the truth about her date and that Danny tried to save her feelings she says she is proud to have him as her brother.
