The Partridge Family - Season 4, Episode 21 (95)

Title: Pin It On Danny

First aired: March 16, 1974

Synopsis:

Danny and his friend, Punky Lazaar, are going home after school, when suddenly Danny notices something on the sidewalk. It’s a very beautiful, expensive looking broach. He wants to keep it, especially when Laurie and Keith ask what present he has for their mum. This is Shirley’s birthday and Keith hopes Danny has something better this time. Last year he gave their mum some after shave lotion. Danny is very mysterious and says today he has something special.

Reuben comes to celebrate Shirley’s birthday too. She gets a toaster from Keith and Laurie, and Reuben gives her his framed photograph. Everyone is astonished by Danny’s present and Shirley loves it. Keith is very surprised and thinks there is something very suspicious about it.

The next day an announcement appears in a newspaper. There is a reward of $50 for a person who finds Mrs Pierson’s broach. Danny has to tell Keith the truth about how he has found, not bought, the present for their mum. Keith wants to go with him to return the broach in exchange for half the prize. They have to sneak into Shirley’s bedroom at night to take the pin. Laurie discovers their secret and tells Danny to buy another broach for mum and return the found one to Mrs Pierson.

Danny buys a new broach for $12, because it’s a half price bargain it cannot be returned. However, boys have an unpleasant surprise when they find out that the broach is not the one for which the reward was offered. Danny puts back the pin in Shirley's bedroom, and she is very happy because she thought she'd lost it somewhere.

The next day at school, Mrs. Bullock, Danny’s teacher, asks the class if anyone has seen her broach. It has a great sentimental value for her. That same day Shirley comes to school because of the parent-teacher conference, and to Danny’s despair she has the pin in her jacket flap. It’s very difficult but Danny has to tell his mum, and his teacher, the whole truth about the broach. He is forgiven and now can give her mum a present bought by himself.
