Janet Stewart's column griping about the recent David Cassidy show at Club Regent Casino is so far off the mark she might as well be in Albuquerque. She had a list of complaints that made her walk out of the show -- which must have been difficult to do through the throng of appreciative fans who were rushing toward the stage.

* Her complaint -- Cassidy was unhappy with the stool they provided him.

Actuality -- When he hit the cushion, a big cloud of dust came up. He got laughs and ran with the gag.

* Her complaint -- He whined about getting blisters from his guitar.

Actuality -- After doing a two-song Beatles acoustic set, he shouted "I've got blisters on my fingers!", mimicking John Lennon at the end of Helter Skelter.

* Her complaint -- He didn't like the guitar they gave him.

Actuality -- She left out his next comment which was, "but as they say, the bow is only as good as the archer" indicating that he was self-critical of his own performance, not the instrument.

* Her complaint -- He was derogatory toward his band, giving them glances and rolling his eyes.

Actuality -- She walked out of the show and missed the 10-minute love-in where he individually introduced and praised each member of his band and gave them the stage for solos.

* Her complaint -- He mocked a fan for giving him a silk rose.

Actuality -- He spent the whole night interacting with his fans, touching hands, talking to them and accepting the gifts they were offering. His line about "oh, a plastic rose," followed by "oh, a real rose" was hardly malevolent. He then said something like, "I'll have to collect these and send them to my wife after the show. She's going to kill me!"

Everyone in the sold-out audience seemed to love the show. Cassidy played the hits, sounded in good form, and appeared to enjoy himself and appreciate the audience response, thanking them repeatedly. Hey Janet, c'mon, get happy!
