The emergence of Latin pop super stars was undoubtedly one of the biggest headline-grabbers of 1999, and "People" magazine has recognized that trend by naming Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopez to its annual list of "The 25 Most Intriguing People."

Martin and Lopez were the only two music artists to make this year's "Intriguing" list, which also features such celebrities, politicians, and personalities as Mike Myers, Ashley Judd, Tiger Woods, Brandi Chastain, Judge Judy, Texas Governor George W. Bush, first lady Hillary Clinton, and the cast of Pokemon monsters, among others.

As part of its year-end double issue, "People" has also revealed its "Poll Of The Century," which details the results of a phone poll in several pop culture categories, including "Favorite President" (John F. Kennedy), "Favorite Movie" ("The Wizard Of Oz"), and "Favorite Animated Character" (Bugs Bunny).

The King, Elvis Presley, was chosen as "Favorite Male Pop Star" with 30 percent of the vote, followed by Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, and Bob Dylan.

In the category of "Favorite Female Singer," soul diva Aretha Franklin barely won out over Barbara Streisand, who was followed by Madonna, Diana Ross, and Judy Garland.

Ricky Martin also turned up as one of "People" magazine's "Favorite Teen Idol(s)," coming in third behind Ricky Nelson and '70s heartthrob David Cassidy of "The Partridge Family."

The year-end issue of "People" magazine arrives on newsstands this week.
