Laughing wins.

David Cassidy's homebred, LAUGHING, making her first start at Finger Lakes Racetrack in Farmington, New York, led every step of the way to break her maiden against state-bred fillies and mares, three year-olds and up. Trained by Donna Bireta and ridden to victory by jockey David M. Rivera, the four year-old dark bay filly broke from the outside post-position in the 7-horse field, who raced over the main track, listed "fast", at 5-1/2-furlongs.

Rivera sent Laughing winging soon after the break and the filly controlled the pace through a half-mile in 47 seconds flat as Polish Jig chased in second-position. As the field turned for home, Laughing drew clear and lengthened her lead with every stride on her way to a 7-length victory. Polish Jig held for second and Dynamite Duck closed to be third. Final time was 1:07 flat.

Television and recording star Cassidy has been a lifelong Thoroughbred racing fan and began breeding and racing horses in New York in the mid 1990's. Laughing is by In Excess, and is out of the Secretariat mare, Cute Show.
