Comments have been made that Tony DeFries, (Mick ed.) Ronson's manager, attempted to package and promote Mick after he and Bowie split with a teen idol image a la David Cassidy. Perhaps by plan or perhaps by coincidence, Ronson and Cassidy met during the Rolling Thunder Revue. Cassidy later came to New York, lived briefly with Ronson, and began to rehearse with Mick's band. Personal issues forced him to leave New York but Ronson was later credited with producing Cassidy's album, ......Additional information is available in the February, 1977 issue of Creem. Ultimately, their only recorded collaboration was a limited one with Ronson playing on the A-side of the "Gettin' It In The Streets / I'll Have To Go Away" single drawn from the RCA album, Gettin' It In The Streets, which was released in 1976. The album was a U.S. release while the single was released in the U.K. only.
