The 21st annual Christmas Toys in the Sun Run rode towards this years goals of more toys and money for deserving children and worthy charities with an impressive turnout of motorcycle enthusiasts.

Taking place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida an estimated 30,000 bikers took a short trip from the starting point of a greyhound racetrack to the concert-filled destination at a local park. Sponsored by the South Florida Presidents Council, an umbrella organization of motorcycle clubs and associations, a goal of 60,000 toys and $600,000 was set for this years event. Last year the toy run collected 50,000 toys and more than $597,000 with the toys going to needy South Florida families and money raised going to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, Florida.

Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital is a world-class hospital that has earned the distinction of being the leading children's hospital in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Its premier facility combines advanced technology and the expertise of the largest diversity of board-certified specialists in the region, all in a caring, compassionate setting designed specifically for children.

The ride was so large, local authorities closed two freeways for several hours with riders required to not only pay an admission fee but bring a toy valued at $10 or more.

This year's event attracted riding celebrities such as Jim Belushi, Big Kenny of Kenny and Rich, and David Cassidy. Also attending were custom bike builders Donnie Smith, Athena 'Chickie' Ransom and Christian Clayton.

The Fun in the Sun Run is widely considered the largest toy run in the United States.
