Some Doors Open, Some Doors Close

As we go through life, we will walk through open doors, and be re-routed by closed ones. Musicians face many doors in the trek to musical success, and depending on which ones they go through mold and shap their identities, just like the doors in our personal lives do for us.

In 1971 The Doors legendary singer Jim Morrison booked into The Hotel George's in Paris. Within the wee, he moved into an apartment at 17 Rue Beautreillis, living in the city until his death on July 3rd of the same year.

In 1971, TV aired a series about a family rock band called The Partridge Family. This fictional band, featuring David Cassidy on vocals was presented an open door to music fame, and would received a Gold record for Doesn't Somebody Want to be Wanted on this day in rock. They would receive 5 Top 20 hits, this song being their 2nd.

1978 was an open door for Meat Loaf, as his album Bat Out Of Hell hit the UK charts, remaining there for 416 weeks and selling over 2 million copies.

In 1996, promoters who tried to get a Beatles reunion tour going was met with a closed door as the surviving members, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr turned down their $225 million offer.

Having just walked through the door of induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, AC/DC performed a one-off show at the Roseland Ballroom in New York.

Our final fact is about a literal door. A front door to be exact, belonging to the childhood home of Ozzy Osbourne, in Birmingham. The door was put up for sale, due to the current owner growing tired of fans defacing the door. Owner Ali Mubarrat said over the years it had become a pilgrimage destination, and was now auctioning the door on eBay, donating the money to charity.

I hope today offers you many open doors to success, and closes the doors that would bring you harm. Have a great day!
