New York stallions Stonesider, Read the Footnotes, Posse and Utopia (Jpn) led the pack of New York-based stallions in the two-day Fasig-Tipton Saratoga New York-bred preferred yearling sale which took place on August 7-8. Stonesider had the top-seller of the state-based sires - the top yearling filly in the sale's first session on Saturday evening, who was also second highest-priced yearling of that session and seventh-highest seller overall. In that same session, Read the Footnotes had the number two yearling colt and Posse and Utopia had progeny in the top twenty.

Read the Footnotes, currently New York's seventh-ranking sire and standing for Sequel Stallions at Keane Stud, also had a standout in Session 1, Hip 374. The bay colt was the second highest-priced colt in the session, and 14th-highest seller in the sale overall. Buzz Chace, acting as agent, purchased him for $70,000 from consigner Paramount Sales (agent IV). Bred by David Cassidy and foaled at Waldorf Farm in North Chatham, the colt is a half-brother to Jenny's So Great, a multiple black type-placed multiple winner by Greatness, who has $220,748 in purse earnings. The colt himself gets an A++ TrueNicks rating (based on the cross of Read the Footnotes with Danzig, who sired the sire of his dam Jenny's Search). Jenny's Search, a placed daughter of Lost Soldier, has produced a total of three winners from four foals to start. She currently has an unraced New York-bred two-year-old filly by Trajectory and a 2010 colt by Stephen Got Even and has been bred back to Greatness.
