Rod Stewart Signed For 50 Shows At Caesars' Colosseum

This week's column will give you an update about three stars who are about to make a big new push with their careers.

Rod Stewart has been signed for 50 shows over two years in The Colosseum at Caesars Palace beginning this August. A couple of months ago I saw the show and it was wonderful to see him put it all together.

No big productions or special effects, just Rod and his music. When he joins the audience he is at the top of his game.

I caught up with Steve Wyrick the other day and this guy really deserves credit. Steve will debut his new show at the Las Vegas Hilton next month. This man started at the Lady Luck, moved on to the Sahara, the Aladdin, and finally to his own theater at Miracle Mile.

Unfortunately this venture ended up in a large bankruptcy, allegedly caused by too many partners demanding more than a fair share. This time around the show belongs only to Steve and the Hilton. Now he has the chance to come up with a new bag of tricks on a stage large enough for him to really shine. We wish him success in this new venture.

David Cassidy performed at The Orleans last week. What a show,! What a performer! I remember David when he was 16. I was at the Red Velvet and Sunset along with the Righteous Brothers and Timmy Warner - the long hair gay icon doing what Lady Gaga does now.

The costumes, singing, outrageous performances! Hollywood embraced me. I became Hollywood. I did not fit in, so I was not Hollywood. David Cassidy, my dear friend, took me in and made me feel at home.

David rescued me and we worked with Russ Howard, the record producer. When I finished, seven million recordings were sold. After that Disco Tex was done. David then opened at the MGM and Desert Inn.

Now word has it that David is coming back in a big show with Rider McDowell at the helm and with yours truly doing the marketing and press releases. When you see David on stage, he connects with his extensive fan base. He still can perform with the best of them.

It is a show you must see. I also have been shooting "What's The Point?" - a new reality TV show that's in the works. What about Monti Rock III working with RuPaul?! It looks like that will happen.

Coming this Sunday, my 70th Birthday Bash with special guests and so much fun and drama. Also working on The Monti Rock Minute Radio Show and my syndicated blogs. Most of my days have been graced by not only being a columnist, but also a celebrity.

Donny and Marie will be introducing the revamped version of their popular variety show this week at the Flamingo. A new dance sequence, Dance Stomp, follows the opening of the show and a medley of Broadway hits is also included.

This high energy show also will feature the talented brother and sister in a dance-off inspired by their stints on "Dancing with the Stars." It's another of the many reasons to see this great show again and again.

How about Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie Sheen in "Men?" Exact details have not yet been released, but it is now official that Ashton is in and Charlie is out. More details next week.

Rick Thomas is at the Riviera doing well. Rich Little is coming back to the Riv for three weeks beginning May 25 - to be followed by, among others, Connie Stevens, John Byner, David Brenner, and the 5th Dimension. The showroom is now called the Starlite Theater.

The Riviera and the Hilton are keeping entertainment going strong on the north end of the Strip.

Speaking of the Hilton, they are hosting the "38th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards" to be broadcast live on CBS on June 19. This is the second time this show will come from Las Vegas.

The Chippendales, currently at the Rio, will be adding a new face to their lineup - Jeff Timmons from the band 98 Degrees. So ladies, hold on!

The Palazzo and Caesars Entertainment are showing their appreciation to the military by offering shows and other "goodies" to our veterans and other military personnel. Showing appreciation is the least we can for our people in uniform.

Rev Monti once again wishes you a great week.
