Finally, we spent quite a bit of time at last weekend's Summer Fling party in downtown Des Plaines. Observations from some people we talked to varied from low-keyed griping about the lack of food vendors to exhilaration from many of the 10,000 people who showed up Saturday night to catch a glimpse of and hear Partridge Family heartthrob David Cassidy. The public parking area where the stage was set up at Lee and Ellinwood streets, was packed with music and Cassidy lovers from that intersection east to a point in front of the Des Plaines Public Library.
