David Cassidy

Treasure Island, Florida -- When David Cassidy rocks The Club at Treasure Island for a private concert on Friday, April 13, he'll be celebrating his birthday (one day prior on April 12) and the 40th anniversary of his debut solo album, "Cherish" (released in 1972).

He'll also be paying tribute to his recently-departed friend, Davy Jones of The Monkees.

"Davy was a great entertainer and even a greater human being," reflected Cassidy. "We were actually supposed to perform together... I, along with thousands of fans, will miss him very much."

David Cassidy is more than just a trailblazing singer, actor, songwriter and guitarist: He's also a cultural symbol for an entire generation of music-lovers, thanks to his portrayal of Keith Partridge in the smash-hit 70s phenomenon, The Partridge Family.

His early rise to fame was something he shared with Davy Jones.

"There's a very short-list of entertainers who understood firsthand what it was like to live through all the insanity," said Cassidy. "At The Club at Treasure Island, I'm going to sing a few of Davy's hits to honor him in my own small way."

Throughout the 70s, Cassidy sold over 25 million records, garnered multiple Grammy nominations and an Emmy nomination, won a Golden Globe Award, registered 18 Gold and Platinum recordings - including four consecutive Multiplatinum releases - sold-out concert venues around the world and became the world's highest-paid solo live performer by the age of 21.

In 1972, Cassidy sold-out the Houston Astrodome in back-to-back nights, thrilling 112,000 adoring fans.

In 1973, Cassidy filled Wembley Stadium in London six times in three days, a record that not even the Rolling Stones have been able to emulate.

"It's been a wild ride, that's for sure!" Cassidy said with a laugh. "I'm so blessed that my fans have stayed by my side through thick and through thin.

Best of all, the ride is still exciting and brings surprises at every turn." When not on the road, David spends a great deal of time working and speaking publicly on behalf of Alzheimer's, to which his mother fell victim.

Only a very limited number of David Cassidy tickets will be made available to the general public for $45 a piece; nonmembers should call 888.695.0888 or visit www.theclubti.com.

A portion of proceeds benefits All Children's Hospital, the club's official community partner.

The Club at Treasure Island is a private, members-only club that has recently showcased a slew of top-tier entertainers, including Jon Secada, Wayne Brady, Emeril Lagasse, the Isley Brothers, KC & The Sunshine Band, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Lou Gramm of Foreigner, The Commodores, Colin Quinn, Ben Vereen, Three Dog Night, Jefferson Starship, All-4-One, Lainie Kazan, Mary Wilson of The Supremes, David Alan Grier and comedy legend Richard Lewis.

The Club at Treasure Island is located at 400 Treasure Island Causeway, Treasure Island, FL, 33706.
