Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

Sian, a UK fan, spoke to a lady at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame recently. Sian, like many other fans, would love to see David in the R&R Hall of Fame. Sian asked that the following information be passed on to other fans.

She was told that handwritten letters sent to the address below are required to increase the chance of a nomination. The handwritten letter should address the selection criteria.

Letters should be addressed to:
Attn: Mr Jon Landau and the Induction Committee
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Inc.
750 Lexington Avenue
9th Floor
New York, NY 10022

Fans have created a Facebook page dedicated to helping get David into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

  1. Hello and thanks Sian for this information. Stopped at computer before starting the day and scanned the info on the Hall of Fame criteria.

Just my opinion, but I think it comes to one phrase — “….. but musical excellence shall be the essential qualification for induction.” Unfortunately, that was the issue with how DC was perceived. He wasn’t recognized for his high-level skill on the guitar and wasn’t taken more seriously by these committees.

The question is how to change that perception? Danny Bonaduce knows DC’s musical talent. Fans who saw him in person got a real eye opener when he played live. Does Sam H., David’s friend have video of him playing away from the Partridge Family? Beau? Fan Lucia — if you’re reading this — has videos that could be used.

That 70s music and David’s contribution are forever etched into our minds. We can all still sing and smile with his music — whether fronting the group, or solo on Cherish or the newer CDs and great songs like “No bridge.”

But, the battle here is more than fans sending letters, although of course has purpose.

The bottom line, I think, to accomplish this goal is…..

How can we get review boards at Rock ‘N Roll Hall of Fame organizations to see him as a as a talented musical artist? Comparing to a court case, we need proof. Fans always thought DC was robbed from being recognized by these groups.

We need an “out-of-the-box” strategy here. Thoughts?

    Hugs from PA,
    Mary W.

    • Sending the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame handwritten letters of nomination and evidence of Davids musical talent and Legacy with YouTube links to his music videos . List of Albums made, his musical and stage legacy throughout the decades. The CassidyMania of the 70’s . He was the first major artist to be globally merchandised. He was a musical enigma. Highest paid solo artist of his time. They need to see and hear Davids music. The artists that David influenced who came after him. All the different genres of music he could perform blues , jazz . He was not a pop bubble gum pop star as so many perceive him to be . Only then if every fan takes time to write ✍️ a letter will he stand a chance . Every individual letter counts sent to Attn Jon Landau.

  2. this issue has been going on for years, unfortunately, rock did not make him a successful artist, it was the partridge family, and the songs he sang from the series, even though he loved rock, it did not make david win on stage, he had a brilliant and successful career and we are all blessed that we were here to see him, god bless you david.

    • Yes, Kate. That’s the rub — rock didn’t launch him. Personally, I always thought there should be some other kind of category that broadens the scope of the Hall of Fame organizations.

  3. HAPPY THANKSGIVING FANS AND FRIENDS OF DAVID CASSIDY……MY OPINION IS OVER THE YEARS THE ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME RECOGNIZED SOME OF THE WORST HARDROCK HEAVY METAL RAP CRAP GROUPS PERFORMERS WHO IN MY THOUGHT SHOULD NEVER GOTTEN IN THE RNR HALL OF FAME MORE LIKE SHAME.BUT THERE WAS SOME GREAT AWARD WINNERS. YES DAVID SHOULD AND MUST BE INDUCTED…..HIS MUSIC HIS STYLE HIS STAGE AND TV CAREER,ETC WAS VERY EXCELLENT AND WORTHY.YES HE WAS A TEEN ,THE BEST LOOKING SEXIEST OF ALL BUT HE ALSO COULD SING REALLY SING!! HIS MUSIC IS WORTHY.SO LETS ALL DO AS MUCH AS FANS TO GET OUT WRITE, MAKE CONTACTS ,AND ANYONE WITH LIVE PERFORMANCES ON DVD OR BLU RAY LET THESE PEOLE THECOMMITTEE MEMBERS SEE DAVID IN ACTION ESPECIALLY HIS CONCERTS FROM THE EARLY 1970S.WE NEED TO GET HIM INDUCTED…CMON GET HAPPY MAKE HIM AND ALL OF US PROUD…..

  4. Thank you for this information Sian . I would love to see David in the R&R Hall of Fame like so many other fans. I did write a handwritten letter a few years ago to R&R Hall of Fame stating all the reasons why I felt David so deserved this .I really hope that one day this happens .

  5. Hmm. Interesting. Yes saw that on the list for 1997 …… did not know this. But eligible we can all assume is far from being recognized. Excellent information. Glad you shared that fact.

  6. Richard, you rock, you said it best, David Cassidy SOLD, out stadiums, he showed up ready, and he rocked all his concerts, his voice, he played instruments, he had the knowledge and talent to be a singer. Partridge Family, Keith Partridge, had a life and career outside the show. Give Credit where do.David Cassidy belongs in the Rock n Roll hall of fame.

  7. HI DENICE,HOPE ALL IS GOOD.GLAD YOU LIKED MY COMMENT.DAVID WOULD BE SO HAPPY AND PROUD LOOKING DOWN IF HE WAS INDUCTED IN RNR HALL OF FAME.HE WAS AND IS JUST AS TALENTED AS SOME OF THE FORMER INDUCTEES WERE.THERE WERE SOME GREAT SINGERS PERFORMERS WHO DESERVED TO BE INDUCTED AND WERE NOW ITS DAVIDS TURN…..LETS ALL MAKE IT HAPPEN.

  8. John Landau has a sixth sense for discovering talent which he proved with The Boss that he has seen the future of Rock and Roll and its name is Bruce Springsteen and so Mr. Landau hit it out of the park with a grand slam with that statement of Bruce and we need Mr. Landau again to step up to the plate come up to bat once more for his own unique vision and support for David Bruce Cassidy and Barry Manilow to gain entrance into the illustrious Rock and Hall Fame with his possible and most needed endorsement to turn this dream into a reality just the same way Mr. Springsteen turn dreams into reality throughout and continues to do his career. Simply put by Bruce back in 1986 with the statement “Remember in the end, Nobody Wins unless Everybody Wins”. Respectfully and Sincerely from Jimmy Pearl of Bayonne, New Jersey….My Hometown
