Saturday night

Chinook Winds Casino. Lincoln City, OR

Saturday was not as hot but close to it of course it was SMOKIN when David came on stage. We woke up to another beautiful day at the beach. We ordered room service for breakfast and looked out at the beach hoping to see you know who. Then we drove to the Safeway store for much needed snacks and to try to spy you know who again. No luck did not see him I was hoping he might be on the beach somewhere. I walked on the beach awhile and played in the waves while listening to my MP3 Player of "Didn't You Used to Be David Cassidy." The side affects of my medication make me dizzy and weird feeling on and off so I could not stay too long but it was fun. There was so much I wanted to do but could not.

Around 6:00 PM we got ready and called the Shuttle it came right away we got on the bus. There was an attractive lady in the seat next to us I started talking with her about the Concerts. I said "you know David has a woman drummer & singer Terri and she is from Ashland, OR I think that is so cool and she was so great." Well, the woman said "I know she is my Daughter I am here to see her." The lady on the bus was Donna, Terri's mother what a coincidence. I told Donna she had better get a big hug from David for all of us and to please tell him we love him and are glad he is back. We walked with Donna to show her where to go as she did not know. This time the doors weren't open yet to the Theater and we had to wait.

When they opened up we got our seats in section E this time farther back then Fri. At the next table in front of me was Donna she came over to tell me that she got her hug from David and it was great and that he looked like he was 20 years old. Later her whole table got taken back stage again to meet him. I was so happy for her you should have seen her watching her daughter in the drum solo when David introduced her. At one point before the concert a very pretty blonde girl that had been in the front row from Fri night was put in the seat next to me while they found a front row seat for her again. She was talking to an employee & said she had been an extra in some movies including American Beauty & she was from Seattle. She looked like Katy Cassidy but older. I don't think she even had a ticket when she came in. She must have had either special pull or it was her looks that got her up there. As later a Security Guard came and escorted her to her front row seat. Makes me wonder why the rest of us bother buying a seat when other people get bumped to the front any way. I also heard the employee talking about Fri night and how David got mad at people for coming up to him. So security would pull them back. Then David would say oh let them stay. Then he would change his mind again. That is why there were guards in the aisle on Saturday and they did not let you up like on Fri night.

So at 8:00 David came on stage. Again wearing a white shirt and the same type of black pants. He opened again with Hush full of energy and smiling. The crowd was for the most part a bit older and more mellow on Saturday. He remarked again how beautiful it was here and he was glad to be back again. The songs where pretty much the same just a little different order. One gal who was staying 2 doors down from me in the hotel had her 40th birthday she brought a 45 of ITILY with no sleeve. When her friend yelled to David about it he had her come up and he signed it and her shirt he made a big deal for her and had the audience clap for her. When she walked back she collapsed on the floor by me and was going on about it. Later that night she was out in the parking lot even drunker yelling about it and how great David was. I have the 45 with the original sleeve on it I would have killed to get it signed. I'll be more prepared next time in several areas. Towards the end when David introduced the band Matt was really wailing on the guitar and David said "Hey you don't want to shoot your wad yet!" Then he remarked that the band was really inspired tonight and he wondered if it was because of what he had heard. Though he had not witnessed it he had heard the Band had knocked down quite a few drinks on Fri night (I wonder if it was them on the beach Fri night having all the fun). I cannot remember which night it was but David had trouble with the Acoustic Guitar and the Electric one. When finally he had to get the Electric one to play, he laughingly talked about how he could not play it that well. But he could play better than Danny Partridge. He then slung the guitar low to his knee with his arms straight down just like Danny did back them and played. He mimicked it so perfectly. We all just busted out laughing. He really is so funny.

Back to the concert He talked some more about some of his songwriter friends. He then mentioned he had only a few years ago gotten to meet the guy who wrote Echo Valley & several other songs and that he had thanked David for keeping him off of food stamps for all those years. We all laughed at that. He also spoke again of John Lennon (who obviously made a huge impact on his life) and of the Beatles and their songs and how at 13 hearing them had changed his life. David sang till around 9:30 ending with I Woke up in Love This Morning. He left the stage and so did the band. But this time he came back and did an encore "Cry" I think his voice on that song was the best he had sang on both nights. He really got into it and sounded wonderful and clear he seemed really happy with the night and seemed energized by the audience. He said good-bye waved said thank you and left.

I did not know they were signing autographs and I walked right by the line. I was one of the first out of the theater too and would have maybe made it back there for an autograph. We walked around the back of the casino to look for David but he had not left yet. So we went back to our balcony out front and waited for the band. Frank and Rod walked by and I told them thank you so much for the awesome job Fri and tonight we all really appreciated it. They thanked me rather shyly. I then said we look forward to seeing you again soon I hope. Frank said "we hope to come back soon too." Then Matt walked by and I thanked him also. He nodded smiled and said thank you also. It was over and I felt sad. I still feel sad I guess because I had waited so long and now it was truly over. But I think he will be coming back it appears that he sold out both nights and the hotel rented a lot of rooms because of him. He seemed nostalgic and happy. I don't think he realized before what a huge fan base he has here in the Northwest. I hope he comes back to the Casino because it is so small and is much easier to get close to him, compared to the huge Venues in Portland.
